Abstract
The article presents an evaluation of the 10-week summer undergraduate research program of the Texas Southern University (TSU) in Houston in 2012. Detailed information about the program including the percentage of students who were female, those identified as African-American or Hispanic and those mentors who were classified in the said race is provided. It reveals a strong correlation between student performance and grade point average (GPA) for the subset of students in the research program.
