Abstract
A study was conducted to develop a culturally valid measure of depressive symptoms among Vietnamese American adults using the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES-D), which assesses the occurrence and persistence of depressive symptoms in a one-week period. Findings revealed that, with a minor variation in one item of the translated scale items, the study successfully produced a cross-culturally acceptable Vietnamese version of the CES-D Scale.
