Abstract
The article focuses on the important connection between art education programs and the development of social justice practices in K-16 classrooms. The author discusses the hierarchical and unilateral approach to education that urban students experience throughout their schooling. She believes that the approach has a great tendency to weaken students' power to transform the world or from creating meaning in their lives. Moreover, the article notes the promotion of art education programs.
