Abstract
This paper describes two separate 12 week Incredible Years Training Programmes for parents of young children with autism and language delays. It presents a wealth of evaluation data on the perceived effects on the children and on the parents, as reported by the parents. In addition, parents and the course leaders were asked to suggest how the course and its delivery might be improved. This is a rich resource for anyone who is planning to run a programme for parents as it offers recommendations on how such programmes are likely to work best. Consideration may need to be given to the number and type of questionnaires and rating scales that parents are asked to complete, bearing in mind the value of these and the time taken to complete them. As diagnoses of autism are being made at an earlier age, parents of young children not yet in school, would often value advice and information, but this is not always available or there are waiting lists. This paper might inspire readers to fill this gap. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
