Abstract
The writer examines issues associated with measuring assistive technology outcomes in reading. He discusses how reading performance can be enhanced through technology, the application of assistive technology for individuals with difficulty in reading, and a range of design, measurement, analysis, and decision-making factors that need to be addressed in the process of creating outcome systems for measuring the impact of assistive technology. He notes that the area of reading lags behind other academic applications of assistive technology in the development of measurement tools and procedures that will enable the profession to make definitive statements about outcomes of technology enhanced performance in reading.
