Abstract
Learning centers and peer tutoring facilities often need ways to train their staff to work with students who find themselves dealing with anxiety, fear of failure, and many other issues. There is also a need for training in soft skills such as communication and empathy that will help students have a successful college career. This article applies concepts from improv, and its integration into one college's tutor training. It includes two of the improv games used and the tutors' reactions to participating in them. Whether used as icebreakers or regular sessions, improv games are opportunities to connect and communicate with others on a deeper level. They also encourage students to take risks and embrace uncertainty. A discussion of limitations and future directions follows. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
