Abstract
The writers discuss how fine arts teachers in remote locations are using online professional communities to connect with each other. An example of how collaboration is shaping professional learning is illustrated by an initiative at St. Mary's County Public Schools in Leonardtown, Maryland. When the school began this project, it established the rule that every teacher would collaborate to enhance professional and student learning. This resulted in teachers across all levels getting opportunities to engage in job-oriented learning. Through a partnership with John Hopkins University, the school has implemented an electronic learning community to foster collaboration, sharing, and just-in-time learning. The outcomes of this project are discussed.
