Abstract
An early intervention project for preschool handicapped children is described. Specific program goals (including improved functioning in social, emotional, communication, and preacademic areas) are listed, and roles of the interdisciplinary staff members are considered. Among evaluation approaches discussed are psychological measures, family histories, and analysis of mother-child interaction. Primary treatment modes are explained to be psychodynamic and psychoeducational. Examples of children referred to the 6 week therapeutic classroom, the intensive day treatment program, and the home visit program are given. (CL)
