Abstract
Discusses how the legal protection for image rights of top sportspersons in Hungary operates on a contractual basis. Explains that image rights is a concept only recently developed in Hungary. Considers the use of image rights contracts by sportspersons in advertising, the extent to which image rights can be transferred and the legal limits placed on the use of sports image rights in advertising. Highlights the involvement of national sporting federations in advertising contracts and looks at self-regulation, disciplinary procedures and taking legal action to protect image rights.
