Abstract
Reports on the increase in the number of cyber attacks since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, including ransomware attacks. Looks at the implications for the cyber security and cyber insurance industries, including increased insurance premiums and insurers relying on exclusions to refuse claims if claimants have failed to keep security software up to date. Refers to regulatory action in the US regarding ransomware payments and anti-money laundering and considers the position in the UK.
