APEC businesses want data privacy to spur digital economy

Abstract
Comments on the call by APEC businesses for governments to expedite implementation of the cross-border privacy rules system for data transfers, adopted in 2011, in order to boost the digital economy, made at the sidelines of an APEC small and medium-sized enterprise ministerial meeting in Lima, Peru, ending on 9 September 2016. Looks at the multilateral privacy rules and their implementation by APEC countries, including Mexico and Peru.
