Abstract
This, the first part of a three-part article on the implications of Regulation 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)) for employers, focuses on the fair, lawful and transparent processing of employee data. Highlights the changes to the standard for consent to processing and considers how employers might rely on legitimate interests to process employee data. Looks at the processing of special categories of data and criminal records checks.
