Abstract
Discusses the proposals put forward by the Law Commission on 13 March 2017 in a draft Bill for the replacement of the deprivation of liberty (DoL) safeguards with a new Liberty Protection Safeguards system to streamline the administrative process for authorising measures depriving persons lacking capacity of their liberty; provide new rights and safeguards; and to take further account of the patient's wishes and feelings.
