Abstract
Examines the problems faced by third parties attempting to stop public authorities disclosing confidential information following requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Reviews the first attempt to prevent such disclosure in R. (on the application of Las Vegas Sands) v Birmingham City Council which considered an application for leave to apply for judicial review of an internal appeal panel's decision that certain clauses in a tripartite agreement with the council were not commercially sensitive or confidential.
