Abstract
Differential cross sections for the scattering of alpha particles by C, O, Mg, and Au at 60 deg in the laboratory system were measured over the energy range 13 to 30 Mev. All curves exhibit fluctuations from the smooth behavior predicted by the optical model. In the case of Au, it is shown that the optical model gives the average behavior of the differential cross section. 43 references. (auth)
