Abstract
Consideration is given to a possible mechanism leading to polarization of the ..lambda.. hyperons in the reaction pp..--> lambda..X and also of inclusively produced ..sigma.. and ..xi.. hyperons in the framework of a method based on use of a single-time dynamical equation for the scattering amplitude and on ideas about the quark structure of hadrons. The dependence of the polarization on the transverse momentum p/sub perpendicular/ and on the constituent-quark mass is obtained; predictions are also made for the relative value of the polarization in reactions involving production of new heavy hadrons ..lambda../sub q/(q = c, b, t).
