Abstract
The slowing down in a solid of a primary atom of high velocity occurs by means of a series of collisions able to displace secondary atoms. It is shown that under certain conditions, it is possible to channel the shocks along the length of a row of atoms without producing any new displaced atoms. This phenomenon is studied theoretically and demonstrated experimentally. (auth)
