Abstract
Texas and Alberta share a similar petroleum/agriculture economic base. An input-output analysis of the mid-1960s and 1970s compares the two economies to identify their similarities and differences. Descriptive data show the high number of interdependencies between agriculture and petroleum and the high level of their inputs to other sectors. While no structural changes appear between the 60s and 70s except for an overall integration of the petrochemical industry and a maturing of the economy, the direction of Alberta's development will reflect specific regional characteristics.
