Abstract
A new solar heating plant for a small residential area in Onsala, south of Goteborg, Sweden, was put into operation in spring 1996. The system was designed with a newly developed collector roof of about 200m{sup 2} collector area and a diurnal water heat store of 19m{sup 3}. Nine buildings with 36 residential units are connected to the heating plant. Detailed measurements, according to preliminary European Standards, were carried out to validate a simulation model (TRNSYS) for the system. A sensitivity analysis of the validated model for major system parameters applying a factorial design experiment was carried out and recommendations for an optimized system design are given. As an aid for the designer a simplified model (TRNSED) based on the validated model was created. Measurements, model validation, thermal performance predictions and a sensitivity analysis of major model parameters are described.
