Abstract
Micturition disorders are very frequent in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients and have functional repercussions that impact daily life and can lead to morphological damage to the upper urinary tract. The functional effects of bladder disorders and their management are widely documented, but their organic consequences remain underestimated, despite occurrence in as much as 10 % of MS patients. In the first section, we provide a critical review of the literature, focusing on identifying the risk factors of urinary tract complications in MS patients. In the second section, we discuss the recommendations for long-term urological follow-up, taking into account specific risk factors, as developed by the Francophone Study Group on Neuro-Urology (Genulf) and according to the clinical guidelines set by French health authorities.
