Abstract
On the evening of the November 13, 2015, a terrorist attack occurred in Paris and Saint-Denis. After this attack, the Percy Military Teaching Hospital activated the “Plan Blanc”, the French emergency response plan for mobilizing doctors and medical workers. The hospital had to manage a massive inrush of gunshot wounded people. This is an exceptional situation both in professional and human ways. After the emergency mobilization of medical and paramedical teams, the nursing staff requested psychological support. In this article, we present the medical and psychological support modalities offered to the caregivers of hôpital d’instruction des armées (HIA) Percy after these events, especially with regards to one of our component: talk groups. Using two examples of psychological debriefing groups with caregivers from the emergency department and the operating room, we stress the interests and the limits of such a particular medical and psychological support modality.
