Abstract
Summary:AIR pollution as a modern environmental hazard is described and an analysis of data presented for Dublin and Cork during the period 1963 to 1969. It is concluded that there is a serious problem in both cities, to which domestic heating makes a major contribution. Proposed regulations for pollution control in 1971 do not affect this source of pollutants. The composition of pollution in both cities is changing, and further research is needed to establish the cause of this. More recording stations are required to improve the coverage of the present monitoring system.
