Abstract
Key points: Unclear representativeness of data limits the usefulness of dental AI applications.There is a poor reporting quality for AI research and products.All stakeholders, foremost dentists, should be able to appraise dental AI.The dental community is called to increase the performance, usefulness, fairness and impact of AI applications.
