본 연구는 한국 재난영화의 내면에 존재하는 위기와 관련된 담론을 당대의 조건들과 함께 분석함으로 우리 공동체가 지니는 위기의 징후를 사회적 관점에서 읽어내는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 이러한 가정은 사회가 지향하는 욕망이 어떠한 방식으로든 영화와 같은 대중적 결과물로 드러난다는 사실을 바탕으로 하였다. 연구를 위해 재난영화로 분류된 <엑시트>(2019), <백두산>(2019), <#살아있다>(2020), <반도>(2020), <싱크홀>(2021)에 대한 텍스트분석을 실시하였다. 아울러 한국 재난영화를 하나의 담론으로 가정하고 영화 내부에 존재하는 화면의 구성, 내러티브, 대사 등의 요소를 총체적 관점에서 접근하였다. 연구 결과 한국 재난영화가 제시하는 사회적 위기는 국가와 개인의 경합적 양상, 가족의 붕괴와 유사가족의 등장, 자본주의에 내재된 이중적 성격의 문제점이 드러났다. 이는 재난영화 내부에는 현대 한국사회가 직면하고 있는 위기의 원인을 집약적으로 보여주고 있으며, 재난은 예외적이거나 돌발적인 상황이 아니라 구조적 요인이 일상화된 결과임을 알 수 있었다.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the discourse related to the crisis that is depicted in Korean disaster films as well as the conditions of the time, and to read the signs or symptom of crisis in our community from a social perspective. This assumption is based on the fact that social desires are manifested in popular outcomes, such as films. For this study, textual analysis of (2019), (2019), <#Alive>(2020), (2020), and (2021) classified as disaster films is the primary task. In addition, this thesis assumes that Korean disaster films belong to the social discourse and approaches elements such as screen composition, narrative, and dialogue that are contained within the film from a holistic perspective. Conclusively, the social crisis presented in the Korean disaster film reveals the critical dysfunction of the state, the breakdown of the family as well as community, and the problems of the capitalist growth model based on the efficiency and the desires for the rich. These results shows that disaster films intensively show the causes of the crisis facing modern Korean society, and that disasters are not exceptional or unexpected situations but the result of structural factors becoming routine.
