In one aspect, the invention relates to compounds of formula I: [chemical expression included] where X, Y, R1, R2, R3, R4, R4, and n are as defined in the specification, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The compounds of formula I are serotonin reuptake inhibitors. In another aspect, the invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions comprising such compounds; methods of using such compounds; and process and intermediates for preparing such compounds.
