Abstract
ABSTRACT: Kocuria rhizophila, a Gram-positive coccus, is usually regarded as a contaminant. It has been described in catheter device–related infections in children, but never as being involved in central nervous system infections. We report here for the first time a case of ventriculoperitonitis due to K. rhizophila in adult, identified by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry and 16S rRNA gene sequencing.
