Abstract
Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1998, Vol 43(8), 568–568. The reviewer notes that this book (see record 1997-97166-000) describes Carl Rogersʼ, one of the most revered psychotherapists of this century, interactions with his broad array of clients. This work portrays his own development and how his work with clients deviates or embodies his theories of treatment as they too are supposed to evolve over time. Paired with the transcripts of Rogersʼs sessions are critical commentaries by experts in other or person-centered approaches. The commenting authors were asked “to comment on the strengths, weaknesses, assumptions, inconsistencies, and/or notable features of the session” (p. 1).
