Abstract
The term pauci-immune glomerulonephritis with vasculitis encompasses a group of auto-immune disorders, which includes Wegenerʼs granulomatosis, microscopic polyangiitis, Churg–Strauss syndrome, and renal-limited vasculitis. Over the past few years, progress has been made in understanding the epidemiology and environmental and genetic risk factors of the role of antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) in kidney pathogenesis and the utilization of ANCA in diagnosis. However, certain aspects are still subject to debate including the classification and the place of ANCA in treatment.
