Abstract
This chapter investigates the survival and renovation of the cults and cult-places of Corinth following the Caesarian foundation. The aim is to contribute to questions such as when and where normal civic and religious life resumed in Corinth after the destruction of 146 BC, and to what extent Roman decisions and local attitudes influenced the change/preservation of traditional cult-places in newly founded Roman colonies. The chapter focuses on the cult and sanctuaries of Asklepios, Demeter and Kore, and Aphrodite in Corinth, drawing on archaeological remains of Hellenistic and Roman Corinth, and considers how far there was continuity of practice before and after the destruction of 146 bc.
