Abstract
(b Copenhagen, Oct 5, 1949). Danish pianist and composer, brother of Bent Clausen. After studying piano and composition he played from 1970 to 1975 with the group V8, led by Palle Mikkelborg and Alex Riel. In addition, during the 1970s he was a member of Radiojazzgruppen (i), the quintet led by Richard Boone and Bent Jædig, Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen’s quintet, the Crème Fraîche Big Band, and Mikkelborg’s group Entrance (1975–6). In the 1980s he worked in groups led by Jens Winther, Lars Møller, and Tomas Franck, again in Entrance (1982–5), and in a trio with Ørsted Pedersen and Mikkelborg (1983–5). From the 1990s he enjoyed fruitful partnerships with Gary Burton and Severi Pyysalo.
