Abstract
This chapter explores ways that clients can put together and maintain the skills they learned in this treatment program. The key to sustaining gains over time is continuous practice of the skills and techniques learned in therapy. Practicing can help clients to manage ongoing uncertainty about COVID-19 symptoms, navigate setbacks, and prevent relapse into unhealthy cognitive and behavioral patterns. Habit-forming strategies to maintain skills over time include establishing a routine, rewarding oneself, and modifying the environment. The chapter also explains the difference between temporary setbacks (which are inevitable) and the persistent re-emergence of mood or anxiety symptoms (which need further treatment).
