Abstract
This chapter focuses on how to handle common post-COVID-19 cognitive difficulties and symptoms of brain fog, using the cognitive behavioral model. While two or three sessions are recommended, clients can have more sessions if their main concern is their cognitive difficulties and brain symptoms. Therapists may also refer the client for a neuropsychological evaluation and administer self-report measures of cognitive functioning, such as the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) cognitive function scale. Monitoring cognitive lapses may help clients become aware of how often they occur in their daily lives. The chapter offers some cognitive strategies adapted from existing approaches and workbooks for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, traumatic brain injury, and neurologic illness.
