Abstract
Portuguese, 20th – 21st century, male. Born 1948. Painter (mixed media), installation artist. Leonel Moura studied art history at the University of Lisbon, after which he studied at the academy of fine arts in Rotterdam. He lives and works in Lisbon. He works in series from images (photographs or screen prints) and texts. He draws his sources from writers (Tzara, Kafka, Artaud, Joyce, Brecht), philosophers (Hegel, Leibniz, Aristotle, Marx), painters (Buren, Smithsen, Judd) and architecture (New York, Chicago, Rome, Paris) and sets them within frames or more complex linked installations.
