Abstract
Russian, 20th – 21st century, male. Born 1956. Painter (gouache), watercolourist. Figure compositions, interiors with figures, landscapes. Igor Kulik is a former student of the school of fine arts in Leningrad (St Petersburg). He became a member of the association of Leningrad architects. He practices a number of different techniques. Adopting a meticulous realism for certain interiors, his style is virtually naive in some of his landscapes. He sets himself apart from the obligatory Academic Realism, sometimes through his adoption of a particular style, misty, for example. The oniric nature of his compositions, and the expressions of anguish in some of them, call to mind the influence of the Yugoslav Dado. From ...
