Abstract
(b Sept 1, 1735; d Paris, March 16, 1781). French patron and collector. She was the daughter of Emmanuel Felix de Durfort, Duc de Duras. In 1747 she married Louis-Marie-Guy, Duc d’Aumont (d 1799); they separated in 1763. Her tastes were probably formed by her father-in-law, Louis-Marie-Augustin, Duc d’Aumont (1700–1782). Her main interests were Kakiemon porcelain from Japan and Sèvres porcelain, mounted hardstones and rare marbles, as well as furniture decorated with lacquer or with porcelain plaques and richly ornamented with gilt bronzes. In 1767 she bought the Hôtel de La Roche-sur-Yon (destr. 1855), Paris; its redecoration (c. 1777–80), under the direction of François-Joseph Bélanger and Jean-François Thérèse Chalgrin was accompanied by an updating of her collections, so that all the pieces would fit perfectly into the new surroundings that she had created.
