Abstract
Because of rapid ageing of the population, the incidence of heart failure is expected to increase in the coming years. Therefore, a key issue in modern medicine is prevention of the development of heart failure to reduce hospital admission rates. This chapter aims to provide practical evidence-based information to support the implementation of effective preventive measures. After reviewing the most common risk factors, potential interventions are proposed and discussed.
