Abstract
The ultimate goal of Meaning-Centered Psychotherapy for Cancer Caregivers (MCP-C) is to assist caregivers to connect to a sense of meaning and purpose, despite the challenges they face as a result of caregiving. This is accomplished through a discussion of various sources of meaning in life—historical, attitudinal, creative, experiential—that can become resources for caregivers to draw on when the challenges of caregiving become great. These sources of meaning are explored across seven sessions that include didactic components and experiential exercises. This treatment overview describes the overall structure of the MCP-C manual and provides guidance for how to best deliver MCP-C in a manner that is flexible and addresses the unique needs of caregivers seeking support.
