Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the tyrosinase inhibitory activity, L-DOPA auto-oxidation inhibitory activity, melanogenesis inhibition, and cell viability after UV irradiation for whitening functional cosmetic materials using green tea seed extract. Tyrosinase and L-DOPA auto-oxidation inhibitory activities, melanogenesis inhibition, and cell viability showed a dose-dependent increase. The inhibitory activities of tyrosinase in B16 melanoma cells using 300 µg/mL of ethanol extract was similar to Arbutin as positive control. In the case of the L-DOPA auto-oxidation inhibitory activity, when using hot water extract, it showed 40.3% at 300 µg/mL. On the other hand, with the ethanol extract, it was 49.2% at 300 µg/mL. The melanogenesis inhibition was 40.3% at 300 µg/mL of hot water extract. On the other hand, with the ethanol extract, it was 49.2% at 300 µg/mL. The melanogenesis was about 43% decrease compared to positive control group with α-MSH. The human skin fibroblasts viability was 83.2% at 300 µg/mL of hot water extract. On the other hand, with the ethanol extract, it was 86.7%. These results made it possible to expect the application value as a functional cosmetic material with whitening effect that can be industrialized by extract of green tea seed using Iksan Ungpo Region.
