Abstract
In this paper, the performance improvement of the global positioning system (GPS)/gyro-free inertial navigation system (GF-INS) integrated navigation system using gyroscopes is studied. Two methods are investigated: the addition of gyroscopes as aiding sensors and directly using gyroscopes for the INS. Navigation equations, error models, and Kalman filters are developed for both methods. Computer simulations are performed, and the results are compared with those of the GPS/GF-INS integrated navigation system. The results demonstrated that the proposed methods improve the navigation performance.
