Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify empirically supported psychosocial intervention programs for adolescents with behavioral problems and to evaluate the basis, skills, and outcomes of these interventions. To this end, previous studies were analyzed to review universally known psychosocial intervention programs. Parental training should be considered as the first approach to dealing with young children, but the cognitive behavior approach was found to have a greater impact on older adolescents. Family intervention was found to have a greater effect in older adolescents, while multi-component and multi-mode treatment approaches showed moderate effects in both childhood and adolescence. In particular, several limitations have been found regarding effectiveness evaluation, and to date, no single program is most effective, and the choice of intervention should vary with age, and differences in cognitive, behavior, emotion, and communication skills should be considered. The important issues raised through previous studies were discussed and future research directions were proposed to solve these problems.
