Abstract
Korea is currently experiencing rapid aging. The objective of this research is to analyze the online food purchasing, delivery, and takeout consumption behavior of the elderly within the context of these changing societal trends, and to examine the correlations therein. This research utilized the raw data from the ‘2022 Food Consumption Behavior Survey' conducted by the Korea Rural Economic Institute. According to the analysis results, it was discerned that the frequency of online food purchases tends to increase if the primary purchaser is female, resides in a household with a higher number of adult members, lives alone, frequently purchases ready-to-eat food, prioritizes food safety, and has a lower level of food satisfaction. The frequency of delivery food consumption is higher when the primary purchaser is unmarried, household monthly income is higher, the frequency of ready-to-eat food consumption is higher, lesser emphasis is placed on the origin of food, and the economic conditions for food purchase are better. It was also observed that the frequency of take-out food consumption increased with a lower number of adult household members, unmarried, urban residence and a higher frequency of ready-to-eat food consumption.
