코로나19로 인한 개인의 야외활동 제한과 기후 위기로 인한 녹지의 중요성이 조명되면서, 주거공간과 밀접한 도시 내 녹지공간인 정원의 역할과 중요성이 확대되고 있다. 정원은 녹지로서의 사회적 역할 뿐만 아니라 경제발전과 삶의 질 향상 등 다양한 가치를 가지고 있음에도 불구하고 정원의 다면적인 가치에 관한 통합적 연구는 미비한 실정이다. 본 연구는 정원의 다면적 가치를 사회적, 문화적, 환경적, 보건적, 교육적 측면에서 정의하고, 이에 필요한 평가요소 및 평가방법을 정립하여, 정원의 가치평가에 요구되는 통합프레임을 제시하였다. 이를 위해, 선행연구를 통해 정원과 유사시설에 대해 그 기능과 가치를 정리하고 그 목적과 기능적 차이를 구별하였다. 이를 통해 정원의 다면적 가치평가에 적용 가능한 평가방안을 모색하였다. 평가요소는 전문가 자문으로 대표성과 적절성을 확보하였으며, 평가방법에는 활용 및 확보 가능한 데이터를 고려하여 제안하였다. 본 정원의 가치평가 연구의 의의는 특정 정원시설에 제한되지 않고 전국단위의 비교 및 평가에 활용될 수 있는 보편적 기준을 제시하였다는 데에 있다.
Green spaces have become more importantly conceived due to restrictions on individual outdoor activities associated with the climate crisis and COVID-19. Gardens, a representative green space, have multi-dimensional values related to economic development and quality of life, as well as social roles because green spaces are more needed for urban residents; however, integrated studies that investigate the multi-dimensional values of gardens have been conducted insufficiently. This study examined the multi-values in five characteristics (social, cultural, environmental, health, and educational) and integrated them into an assessment frame, adding valuation factors and methods. Using document and case analyses identifying the functions and values of gardens and similar facilities and expert interviews securing the representativeness and appropriateness of valuation factors, assessment methods that can be feasible when considering the currently available data and potential data were suggested. This study is expected to contribute to comparing and assessing garden values by nation, region, and garden characteristics, instead of being limited to specific garden facilities.
