Abstract
This article explores the discourse of Korean women`s sexuality since the year of 1945, independent year from Japanese colony. The sixty years was the period of violent shaking such as the Korean war, the industrialization of the state initiative and political democracy. This paper was examined on three hypothesis which are that 1) has the oppression of the women`s sexuality really existed? 2) what kind of discourse has been produced to suppress the women`s sexuality? 3) has the feminist discourse on women`s sexuality been a discourse of liberation for women? The women`s sexuality, therefore, was examined in the economic, social, cultural and political context. The patriarchal society has oppressed women`s sexuality, regulating women to enter into the public sphere. The main discourse on women`s sexuality was divided the legitimate sexuality and deviated commercial sexuality. The history women`s sexuality since the year of 1945 shows that it was not only mobilized as the driving force of the economic development of Korea but also was regarded as the potential power to destroy the society of gendered hierarchic order.
