Abstract
Baggege handling systems at small and medium-sized airports need to expand the system when there needs to respond to the increasing demand. However, this sort of plan sometimes faces a problem such as space limitation. Furthermore, there is a burden to ensure that the baggage must be well loaded on the designed aircraft in certain limited time as well as the system provides convenience for passenger using the aircraft. Simulation analysis is very important before we set up the actual equipment to expand because there are many factors which are not certain such as uncertainty in passenger input, read rate at the baggage inspection stage, etc., and it needs to increase the certainty for the system works to achieve the intended performance. Through simulation, we analyze the operation of the carousel, which is expected to be a bottleneck, to find a way to achieve the intended performance in a limited space.
