본 연구는 초등학생의 성역할 고정관념에 영향을 미치는 요인을 개인적(성별, 종교 유무, 자아존중감), 가정적(가정 내 성차별, 부모양육태도), 환경 요인(음란물 시청 유무, 학교생활적응도)으로 그 유형을 분류하고 이들의 영향력을 검증하였다. 연구 분석을 위해 수도권 재학 중인 초등학교 고학년 (4-6학년) 265명을 대상으로 온·오프라인 설문조사를 실시하였다. SPSS 21.0과 AMOS 21.0을 사용하여 기술통계, 상관 및 요인분석 그리고 연구문제 탐색을 위한 위계적 회귀분석을 수행하였다. 연구결과로 먼저, 개인 요인(성별, 종교 유무, 자아존중감), 가정요인(가정 내 성차별 유무, 부모양육태도), 환경 요인(음란물 시청 유무, 학교생활적응도) 모두 초등학생의 성역할 고정관념의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 이들 유형 중 개인 요인의 설명력이 가장 큰 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 표준화 계수를 통해 변인의 상대적 중요도를 확인해 본 결과, 자아존중감, 음란물 시청 유무, 학교생활적응도, 성별, 종교 유무, 가정 내 성차별 유무, 부모양육태도의 순으로 성역할 고정관념에 유의미한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 성역할 고정관념에 영향을 미치는 요인을 유형화하여 분석하였으며, 이에 근거하여 다차원적인 양성평등 교육의 필요성을 제시하였다.
This study explored the factors that affect sex role stereotypes for senior students in elementary school. These factors were categorized into the three levels: personal (gender, religious affiliation, self-esteem), family (gender discrimination within the family, parenting attitude), and environmental (exposition to sexual material, school life adaptation) factors. Both online and offline survey of through 4th to 6th graders had been conducted, and a total of 265-samples was implemented for the analysis. The results indicated that all factors significantly influenced gender stereotypes of elementary school students. When examining the relative importance of effects, personal factors yielded the largest impact on gender stereotypes. About 37.4% of total variances was explained by personal factors. Individually, self-esteem had the largest effect size, and then exposition to sexual materials, adaptability to school life, gender, religious and so on. Unlike previous studies, this study examined the comprehensive influence of personal, family, and environmental factors of senior elementary school students and suggested the need for a multifaceted gender equality education. Pertaining issues and limitations were also discussed.
