초등학교 3학년 사회과 교육과정은 지역성을 반영한 지역화 교육과정으로 자신의 고장에 대한 생각과 느낌을 나누는 성취기준과 평가기준으로 장소감을 제시하고 있다. 그러나 실제 학교 현장에서는 장소감의 개념이 교사와 학생 모두에게 생소할 뿐 아니라 그 중요성에 대한 인식이 미미한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 초등학교 학생들의 자기효능감이 사회성에 미치는 영향을 분석하고, 특히 자기효능감과 사회성에 관계에서 장소감의 매개효과를 실증하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 서울시 소재 M 초등학교 3학년 학생을 대상으로 자기효능감, 사회성, 장소감을 조사하였고 193명의 자료를 활용하여 구조방정식 모형을 통한 구조 관계 분석과 매개효과 검증을 실시하였다. 분석결과 자기효능감은 사회성의 하위 변수인 협력성을 제외한 대인관계 변수와 사교성에 직접적 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었고, 장소감을 매개할 경우 대인관계와 사교성뿐만 아니라 협력성에도 간접적으로 유의한 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 확인하였다. 이와 같은 연구 결과는 초등학생들의 장소감 교육의 중요성과 이를 증진시키려는 교육과정의 개발 및 지도가 더욱 확대되고 정교화될 필요성이 있음을 시사하고 있다.
This study aimed to examine the impact of self-efficacy on sociality among elementary school students and empirically demonstrate the mediating role of sense of place in the relationship between self-efficacy and socialization. This study provided substantive content and developmental strategies for instilling a sense of place in elementary school education. A survey was administered to third-grade students at a Seoul elementary school to achieve this goal, examining their self-efficacy, sociality, and sense of place. The data from 193 participants was used to perform structural relationship analysis with structural equation modeling and to confirm the mediating effects. The findings revealed that self-efficacy directly influences interpersonal relationship skills and sociability, except for cooperation. When mediated by a sense of place, self-efficacy was found to indirectly influence interpersonal relationship skills, sociability, and cooperation. These findings emphasize the importance of teaching elementary school students about their sense of place and the need to develop and refine educational programs aimed at improving their sense of place.
