Abstract
Background: There was a study about the association of blood P1 antigen with urinary tract infection. But the virulence effect of blood P1 antigen was not studied. So we studied about the prevalence of ESBL in the patients who have blood P1 antigen. Method: We checked the blood P1 antigen in all patient who have urinary tract infection for 1 year. And we checked urinary symptoms, blood culture, urine culture, the duration of antibiotics administration and analyzed the association of risk factors with blood P1 antigen. Result: Total 25 patients were enrolled. The age of patients was 55 ± 17. The duration of admission was 10.40 ± 11.46. The duration of antibiotic treatment was 13.96 ± 4.15. 16 of the patients showed the positive result of urine culture and 11 of patients showed the positive result of blood culture. 87.5% of the patient showed the E.coli, 6.2% showed the Proteus mirabilis and 6.2 showed the Pseudomonas. All the result of blood culture was E.coli. 15 patients have the positive of blood P1 antigen. The admission day and treatment day between ESBL groups and blood P1 antigen groups were not different. The prevalence of ESBL between blood P1 antigen groups was not different. But the negative blood P1 antigen group showed lower prevalence of ESBL than positive group (p=0.046). Conclusion: The patient who have negative blood P1 antigen showed lower prevalence of ESBL E.coli with urinary tract infection.
