이 연구의 목적은 학문 목적 한국어 학습자들의 읽기 능력 향상을 위해 필수적인 글의 형식적 특징과 구조 파악을 위한 활동이 실제 학문 목적 한국어 읽기 교재에 어느 정도 구현되고 있는가를 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 텍스트의 형식적 특징 파악을 교육 내용으로 포함하고 있는 학문 목적 한국어 읽기 교재 6권을 검토한 결과 학습자들에게 실제적으로 도움이 될 수 있는 충분한 활동이 명시적으로 제시되고 있지 않음을 확인할 수 있었다. 특히 글의 형식적 특징을 다루고 있는 학문 목적 읽기 교재의 수는 여전히 부족하며 장르나 유형, 전략에 초점을 둔 교재임에도 형식적 특징 및 구조의 학습을 위한 설명과 연습이 명시적으로 나와 있지 않았다. 향후 개발되는 학문 목적 한국어 읽기 교재에서는 글의 형식적 특징과 구조 파악 활동이 단원의 주제와 유기적으로 연계되어 읽기 과정 속에 제시됨으로써 내용 지식 활성화 및 내용 지식 탐색을 지원할 수 있는 활동으로 구성되어야 할 것이다.
This study analyzes the level of implementation of activities for identifying the formal characteristics and structure of the text, which are essential for improving the reading skills of Korean learners for academic purposes. We reviewed six Korean reading textbooks for academic purposes that include content on identifying the formal characteristics of actual texts and found that they lack sufficient activities to be practically helpful for learners. In particular, there are few academic reading textbooks dealing with the formal characteristics of the text, and even though the sample includes textbooks focusing on genres, types, and strategies, there are no explicit statements of explanations and practice activities for learning formal characteristics and structures. In future academic Korean reading textbooks, the activities for identifying the formal characteristics and structure of the text should be organically linked to the subject of the unit and presented in the reading process to support content knowledge activation and exploration.
