이 연구는 성인기에 독서 동기와 빈도가 높아져 애독자로 전환된 이들의 특성을 분석한 것이다. 본 연구의 결과는 세 가지로 요약할 수 있다. 첫째, 성인 전환형 애독자의 비율은 전체 성인 응답자(1,003명) 중 4.2%(42명), 성인 애독자(163명) 중에서는 25%였다. 이들의 독서 태도, 수준, 환경은 다른 성인 집단에 비해 높은 수준이었다. 둘째, 생애독서그래프에 근거하여 확인된 성인 전환형 애독자의 유형은 세 가지(지속 상승형, V자 상승형, 상승 후 유지형)였다. V자 상승형이 과반으로 가장 많았고, 세 집단의 독서 이유와 독서장애요인은 약간의 차이가 있었다. 셋째, 성인 전환형 애독자의 ‘전환 시기’는 20대에서 60대 이후까지 다양하나, 20대 때 전환된 비율(42.9%)이 가장 높았다. 전환 계기는 ‘독서를 권하는 인적/물리적 환경, 시간적·경제적·심리적 여유, 삶과 직업에서의 필요, 독서의 가치와 효용 인식’이었다. 독자 전환은 여러 요인의 복합적 작용이었고, 특히 독자개인이 오랜 경험과 성찰을 통해 독서의 가치를 재인식한 결과였다.
This study analyzed the characteristics of adult converts to habitual readers(ACHR). This study found that the proportion of ACHR was 4.2% of all adult respondents.. Second, three types of ACHR were identified based on the lifelong reading graph(continuous ascending, V-shaped ascending, and maintenance after rising). The V type was the most common. Third, the conversion period varies, but conversion rate was the highest in the 20s. The condition/reason for conversion was the human/physical environment for reading, the time, economic and psychological leisure, the need for life and occupation, and the recognition of the value and utility of reading. The conversion was a complex action of these factors, and it was the result of the reader's re-recognition of the value of reading through long experience and reflection.
