이재(頤齋) 황윤석(黃胤錫, 1729～1791)이 1738년부터 1791년까지 남긴 일기 형식의 자료가 『이재난고(頤齋亂藁)』이다. 이 자료에는 영·정조대의 역사와 문화, 언어, 풍속, 제도 등의 다양한 자료를 담고 있어서 단순히 개인의 사생활을 담은 일기로만 치부할 수는 없다. 본 글은 기존 『이재난고』 연구에서 다루지 않았던 세시(歲時)에 관한 내용을 살폈다. 농경문화를 반영하고 있는 세시를 유학자는 어떻게 기록하고, 인식하고 있는지 확인해 볼 수 있는 작업이라고 여겨지기 때문이다. 이를 위해 지금도 전라도 지역에서 행해지고 있는 세시풍속을 중심으로 그 내용을 살폈다. 음력 세시와 관련해서는 세배와 관등(觀燈), 추석 성묘, 그리고 윤달 수의(壽衣) 장만의 풍습을 확인했다. 양력 세시와 관련해서는 한식 제사 관행, 더위를 이기고 몸을 보호하기 위한 복달임, 동지 팥죽 등의 풍속을 살펴보았다. 개인 기념일과 관련된 내용으로는 제사와 생일 관행을 살폈다. 『이재난고』의 세시 기록은 음력을 기준으로 날짜를 기록하면서도 양력을 충실하게 기록하고 있다는 점, 궁중(宮中) 세시를 파악할 수 있는 자료적 가치를 지니고 있다는 점, 궁중 및 양반가의 세시와 민간의 세시 간의 전승 관계를 살펴볼 수 있는 자료라는 점에서 가치를 지닌다. 다만, 민간 세시에 관한 자세한 기록이 없다는 점은 세시 자료로서의 한계라 할 수 있다. 『이재난고』는 다양한 분야의 연구가 가능한 연구자료이다. 그러함에도 다양한 성격의 자료가 혼재되어 있고, 원전 내용에 충실한 완역(完譯)이 없다는 점은 관련 연구를 어렵게 만들고 있다. 원자료 접근이 수월하고, 다양한 분야에서 더 많은 세심한 연구가 가능하도록 완역 작업이 꼭 이루어졌으면 한다.
Ijae(頤齋) Hwang Yun-seok(黃胤錫, 1729～1791) leaves a diary-style record from 1738 to 1791. This data is 『Ijaenango(頤齋亂藁)』. This data contains various materials such as history, culture, language, customs, and institutions during the reign of King Yeongjo and King Jeongjo. For this reason, it cannot be simply called an individual diary. This article examined the contents of seasonal customs that were not covered in the previous study of 『Ijaenango』. The seasonal customs reflect agricultural culture. It is a task that can check how international students record and recognize this. We focused on the contents that are still handed down in Jeolla-do. There are seasonal customs that are implemented during the lunar calendar. These include New Year's bow(歲拜), Lotus Lantern(燃燈), visit the cemetery on Chuseok and make a shroud in leap month. There is a seasonal custom practiced on the solar calendar. These include ancestral rites of Hansik, Bokdalum(the custom of having hot soup to allay the summer heat), The custom of eating red bean porridge on Dongzhi Day of the winter solstice. There are memorial services and birthdays in relation to individual anniversaries. The record of the seasonal customs of 『Ijaenango』 records the date based on the lunar calendar. The solar calendar was also carefully recorded. It also has the value of a record that can grasp the customs of the royal court. In addition, you can examine the transmission relationship between the customs of the royal court and the Yangban family and the customs of the private sector. However, there is a limitation in that there is no detailed record of seasonal customs performed in the private sector. 『Ijaenango』 is a data that can be studied in various fields. However, data of various characteristics are mixed. And there is no faithful translation of the original content. This remains a difficulty in conducting research. I hope that translation work will be carried out to make it easier to use the original data and to enable more careful research in various fields.
